Muramasa told Sode No Shirayuki to leave as he confronts Ichigo. Ichigo asks why Muramasa why he want the zanpakuto to gain independence over the shinigami.
Muramasa never answer Ichigo question but told him that zanpakuto can seperate their soul away regardless of being the soul of the shinigami, and Muramasa being one of the example.
Unable to accept the view of Muramasa, Ichigo attacks him. Muramasa used some illiusion to stunt Ichigo to the ground, and took Zangetsu out of Ichigo.
Once Zangetsu manifest into human form, he immediately attack Ichigo.
Back at the 4th squad headquaters, 12th squad vice-captain Nemu Kurotsuchi inform 4th squad captain and vice-captain Retsu Unohana and Isane Kotetsu that Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi is conducting an experiment on himself in order to research on the zanpakuto manifestation.
After Zangetsu defeated Ichigo, Ichigo transform into hollow form, turning the tables easily and defeated Zangetsu. The hollow turned into a stronger form and beats down Zangetsu.
Muramasa tried to sneak attack Ichigo from behind but the hollow form healed instantaneously...when the hollow was about to attack Muramasa, Ichigo manage to return to his original shinigami form and fall unconciously at Muramasa's feet.
